How High Can You Read???

Room 2 are so busy reading lots of books. We are only one week into our  'How High Can You Read?' competition and we have already gotten so many stickers on our Bookworm. We named him "Benny the Bookworm". The more books we read, the more stickers we can get for Benny.  Some boys have one card complete already! If we keep up all this reading...we might win the prize of a tasty barbeque in our school garden in June. How fantastic is that?

Well done boys - keep reading as much as you can !

(May 2013)

Paired Reading

Every Monday after small break Room 11 come to visit our class for Paired Reading. We all have our reading buddies and love when they come to visit with exciting new books. Our buddies boys read a story to us first and then we read with them. They are super at helping us learn new words and explaining the story to us. Mrs. Barry is really proud of how good we are at our reading. We nearly have all 3 readers finished.

Reading is so much fun!

Working With Clay

In class, we learned all about how birds make their nests. We then got to make our very own nests using clay. We rolled the clay into a ball, made a "pinch pot" with our thumbs and used our fingers to smooth out all the cracks. When the clay was dry, we got to paint them brown. Mrs. Barry gave us straw to cut up and put inside the nests. It was so much fun. We would like to thank Trevor, Daniels, Craig, Dylan & Robert form 4th Class who came to help us. Our nests were finished by putting a little yellow chick into his new home along with some eggs.

We hope you enjoy our pictures!

 Wonderful Writers

Here is Alex Morrissey and Jack Kearney from Room 2. Look at their fantastic writing!

They did this during Free Writing without any help from teacher.

Well done boys yes                                                                                                           (25th April 2013)

Our Visit to the Edmund Rice Chapel

We went on a walk to the Edmund Rice Chapel last Wednesday. We were so excited as we had learned all about Brother Edmund Rice and also about what a special place the Chapel is. On our way we saw Brother Edmund Rice's Bakehouse & Tailor House where he made bread and clothes for the poor boys. He was such a kind man. Then we walked around the beautiful gardens and got our photo taken in front of the Edmund Rice Statue. When we got into the Chapel, we lit a candle and said a prayer to Holy God. We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the tomb of Blessed Edmund Rice. We all gathered around it and said the " Blessed Edmund Rice Prayer" which we say every morning. There was a man praying in the church and he said we were all excellent. Mrs. Barry was so proud of us!

Happy Easter from Room 2. Enjoy the holidays!

Life Cycle of The Butterfly!

We have been learning about the life cycle of the butterfly in class so Ms. Coffey ordered us some caterpillars on the internet. We are watching how much they change and can't wait till they turn into butterflies. Here are some pictures of them when they arrived!

We had so much fun posting our letters and hearing the magic bell ring each time we opened the letter box. We are all trying to be on our best behaviour coming up to Christmas!!!   smiley
